He knew that the small units of the Ahoms were no match for the Mughals in an open battlefield, so he forced them to fight it out in the narrow, riverine area of Saraighat, where Lachit Borphukan’s navy would be more than just a match to them. He had ordered his soldiers to build fortifications within two nights.
When he came to inspect the preparations, Lachit found to his dismay that the fortifications were incomplete. He summoned his uncle, who was the incharge, who explained that most of the workers were exhausted, due to which he couldn’t complete the fortifications. Lachit was not well, he was down with fever, and yet he beheaded his own uncle for disobeying his command. He was of the opinion that when it came to protecting their homes, one couldn’t afford any kind of luxury, and leading by his own example, he proved to his men that any kind of laxity won’t be tolerated.
Though Lachit Borphukan breathed his last after the Battle of Saraighat, he led by his own example and gave the Mughals a crushing defeat. It is not just like that the topper of the National Defence Academy is awarded with the Lachit Borphukan gold medal. It is for those who be their own light and show themselves the correct path.

Drying

Don'ts

If ironing is necessary, iron inside-out on the lowest setting. Do not iron printed area.
