I am a Fighter Quote Printed T-Shirts
There is a fighter amongst all of us. We fight against various things, be it our inner demons, or the societal pressure, as the list goes on. What makes the difference is the fighter spirit within us, as to how far can you go to make sure that it is you who has the last laugh.
Our history has been replete with many such examples, but somehow the example of Rana Raj Singh, the last great ruler of Mewar stands out. The contemporary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rana Raj Singh was a vassal of the Mughal Empire, courtesy his great great grandfather Amar Singh’s treaty with the Mughal Emperor Jahangir.
Rebellion was not something unnatural to Rana Raj Singh. However, he was aware of the consequences. For just reconstructing the moat around Chittor, his father, Rana Jagat Singh, was humiliated and insulted at the Mughal court of Shahjahan.
Ahamasmi Yodha : I am fighter
However, his fighter instincts were awakened by an unlikely event – a woman’s request. Princess Charumati, who hailed from Kishangarh, had dared to mock Aurangzeb and claimed that she would never marry that monkey. Having just gained the throne of one of the mightiest empires throughout of the world, the Mughal tyrant took huge offence to that and decided to abduct and forcibly marry her. It was Ramayana once again, only this time the circumstances were different.
Rana Raj Singh had two choices – appease the Mughals and let Charumati suffer, or protect Charumati and invoke the wrath of the Mughals again. However, the fighter in Rana Raj Singh refused to give up and he decided to come to Princess Charumati’s rescue, consequences be damned. Not only did he protect Charumati’s honor, he also gave Aurangzeb one of the most shocking upsets of his life.
It was also Rana Raj Singh, who initiated the struggle to liberate Bharatvarsha from Mughal imperialism from the western front, and recognized the warrior king within Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He didn’t write that taunting letter to Aurangzeb daring him to collect jaziya from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for nothing!
