Maharana Pratap – A great king:
Maharana Pratap was a great ruler of Mewar. He fought against Akbar (Mughal Emperor) who was emperor of Delhi that time and ruler of India as well and Akbar wants to conquer Mewar for business purposes, but Maharana Pratap never surrendered and he fought against Akbar’s forces with only 20 thousands Rajput and Bhil soldiers against the Mughal army of 80000 soldiers and Maharana Pratap won that battle and captured Mewar again.
When we talk about Maharana Pratap there are two names that are always taken with respect, one is chetak (Horse) and second is Ramprasad (An elephant).
Swami Bhakt Ramprasad : Elephant of Great Maharana Pratap
Everybody knows about chetak but few of us know about Ramprasad (Elephant). Ramparasad was the most favorite and loyal elephant of Rana pratap’s army and even Rana also loved Ramprasad so much he always took care of it.
There is a real incident about ram prasad elephant, which is mentioned in one of Al-Badauni texts by the Mughals who fought in the Battle of Haldighati.
He writes that when Akbar had climbed Maharana Pratap, he demanded to arrest two things, Maharana Pratap and Ramprasad elephant.
Further, Al-Badauni writes that the elephant was so intelligent and powerful that he alone killed 13 elephants of Akbar in the battle of Haldighati.
He further writes that to capture that elephant, Akbar forces made a chakravyuh of 7 big elephants and placed 14 Mahavatos on them and then they could go and capture them.
Now read Swami Bhakti (Loyalty) of an Indian animal. The elephant was presented to Akbar where Akbar named him Pir Prasad. The Mughals gave sugarcane and water to Ramprasad. But that loyal elephant neither ate nor drank the food of the Mughals for 18 days and he became a martyr.
Then Akbar said that what will I be able to bow to the Maharana Pratap whose elephant I could not bow before me. Such patriots were animals like Chetak and Ramprasad here.
The King who has a force of loyal animals, people, soldiers who can’t be defeated by anyone and no one can win Maharana Pratap. Later he ruled the Mewar for 29 Years and he never accept the slavery of Akbar and he fought for his motherland, country, and dharma.
