It’s because of Nagraj Vasuki that Shivaji is called Nagendraharay (He who wears the king of Nagas as a necklace). Shiva’s Naga Vasuki is one of the most prominent and revered Nagas. It is believed that Vasuki is the king of all Nagas and has immense power and protection. Vasuki played an important role in the churning of the cosmic ocean, or Samudra Manthan, where he acted as a rope for the Devas and Asuras to pull on. Vasuki is often depicted coiled around Shiva’s neck, representing his power and protection over the divine. Nagraj Vasuki is also considered a symbol of Kundalini energy, representing the awakening of spiritual energy within oneself.
