The Tripunda is a sacred mark worn by devotees of Bhagwan Shiva in Hinduism. The mark is usually made with sacred ash, also known as Vibhuti or Sandalwood paste and is applied to the forehead in a specific manner. The Tripunda consists of three horizontal lines, representing the three main paths of Hinduism – karma, bhakti, and jnana. Wearing the Tripunda is considered an important part of Shaivism and is believed to provide spiritual protection and blessings to the wearer. It serves as a constant reminder of one’s devotion to Bhagwan Shiva and his teachings, and the ultimate goal of liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
