Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Shloka with Hindi and English Meaning

The Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam shloka, meaning of this shloka is “the world is one family” from Maha Upanishad. The popular Bhagavata Purana (translated as Purana, a genre of literature in Hinduism), for example, refers to the Upanishadic Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam shloka as “the most sublime Vedantic thought.” India’s leaders have repeatedly invoked the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam shloka (the world as a family) from the Maha Upanishad from Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Narendra Modi to illustrate the India’s global perspective.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is a Sanskrit shloka in Hindu texts such as Maha Upanishad, which means that the world is a family. Vasudhaiva means earth, and Kutumbakam means family. The Kutumbakam in the Panchatantra Hitopadeshas, which is recited as the signature of Hindu kindness toward others, is used to foster a spirit of unconditional generosity toward others.
